The Truth According to Wikipedia

Um documentário muito interessante acerca da noção de verdade nos nossos dias. As ferramentas como a Wikipédia, blogs, e, mais recentemente, as redes sociais na web, permitem a qualquer pessoa transmitir a sua visão da realidade, sendo-lhe dada a mesma relevância que é dada aos especialistas que estudam e aprofundam conhecimentos sobre os mesmos assuntos durante uma vida inteira.
Muitos consideram que a Wikipédia não deve ser vista como uma fonte cem por cento fidedigna para obter informações e factos sobre qualquer assunto. Mas esta não é uma visão consensual.

Há esse risco, e ele deve ser assumido sem qualquer problema.
Porém, os meios de comunicação também têm pseudo-verdades... Há o caso da Fox News a pegar em notícias falsas, que são parodias/sátiras, e a divulga-las como verdades!
Por vezes temos de um lado o risco de Wikipedia e companhia estarem escritos de forma irrealista ou pouco parcial.. do outro temos o chamado yellow journalism. É complicado.

The traditional storytelling of indigenous cultures is moving into a new era and new forms of transmission. Indigenous TV programming has found an audience in countries like Australia, Canada and New Zealand - earning nick-names such as 'satellite dreaming'.

"Traditionally we put songs and stories to a picture anyway. That's part of our culture," says Tricia Morton Thomas who works with an indigenous broadcaster in Australia. "Television is something that is just an extension of it."

The challenge for these broadcasters, apart from the ever-present lack of funding, is to give the viewers what they want. They must provide a perfect mix of education and children's programmes as well as mainstream programming. And special attention must be paid to the fact that many viewers do not speak the language fluently.

The shows need to be entertaining and educational at the same time, according to Jean LaRose at APTN Canada. "Our audience is looking to us to not only provide language programming, they're looking to APTN to provide entertainment that could be in languages," he says.

The key seems to be in providing content with specific relevance for the respective communities. Just like pretty much everyone else, indigenous people like to watch people they know and places and situations they can relate to.

Some broadcasters have more clearly stated language education objectives than others. Maori TV puts a lot of effort into producing content for children. However, this does not only mean education as such - the goal is to "normalise" the Maori language.

Maori independent TV producer Kay Elmers says: "They get the language in the classroom. But we can give it to them out and about. We actually show the kids that it is a real living language that can be used anywhere. It's not just for school."

Basicamente busca uma resposta antropológica para a pergunta: "Porque é que as antigas civilizações progrediram a ritmos tão diferentes, a partir de certa altura com clara vantagem para os Europeus?".
Quais as raízes desse progresso, o que é que catapultou certas civilizações para se destacarem tanto entre as outras?

Muito bom. Será que há algum canal destes com o "nosso" mirandês?
Sei que há alguns canais deste género em algumas regiões espanholas. Lembro-me de ter visto há tempos uns minutos de um programa asturiano e ter ficado surpreendido em como a língua era mais parecida com o português do que com o espanhol, ao contrário do mirandês, que me parece sempre mais espanhol que português.

Não conheço, mas talvez existam programas em mirandês em rádio locais.

Documentário muito bom sobre os vários estágios de decomposição. Particularmente interessante quando se aborda os protistas Physarum polycephalum, que têm um comportamento que é, no mínimo, fascinante. E são um ser unicelular macroscópico, o que só por si é interessante porque vai contra a ideia de que seres unicelulares só podem ser vistos ao microscópio.



Mais um documentário da BBC, desta vez sobre sexo. Anomalias do desenvolvimento sexual e mudança de sexo incluídas no documentário.

Verdade, quando estava a vê-lo lembrei-me imediatamente do fórum. E a resposta dada no documentário pareceu-me convincente.
A slime mold é fascinante, ainda ando a ler mais sobre o bicho. E quanto mais leio, ainda mais interessante se torna. Aconselho vivamente mais pesquisa sobre o protista em questão

Mais um porreiro. Fiquei desiludido por não terem feito uma única referência ao nome que eu penso logo quando oiço falar em crime perfeito, que é o Zodiac Killer. Presumo que tenha sido por ter ocorrido numa época em que ainda não tínhamos as técnicas que temos, tornando mais fácil cometer um crime perfeito.

Gostei do documentário, bastante interessante. Não estava à espera de ver mesmo um cadáver humano a ser autopsiado. E realmente é uma falha não se referirem ao Zodiac Killer.

Como tudo na vida, nem 8 nem 80, nem mesmo para as vitaminas.

Bem, acho que este documentário assenta aqui que nem uma luva! É interessantissimo! lol

Como diz na descrição, supostamente é um filme que foi encomendado pelo governo Norte-Coreano a investigadores que se terão dirigido ao Ocidente para lhes prestarem informações sobre o modo de vida ocidental.

Apesar de esta origem ser algo duvidosa, não deixa de ser um documentário interessante, agressivamente crítico de tudo o que é externo à Coreia do Norte e tenta dar credibilidade a várias teorias da conspiração que já conhecemos. Apesar de tudo, faz em muitas vertentes um retrato que considero fiel da nossa sociedade de consumer-slaves. Penso que vários de vós irão também apreciar.
Contém algumas imagens violentas e que podem chocar.

They presented me with a DVD that recently came into their possession and asked me to translate it.
